Village Gardens Information Sessions

Updated: Jan 29, 2022

UPDATE: A link to the January 29, 2022 Zoom session and powerpoint slides have been added to this news item. See below.

In early 2022, 16 three bedroom townhomes at the corner of Yakima Ave and Irving Street will be for sale by a partnership between Homestead Community Land Trust and Edge Developers, with outreach support from Africatown Community Land Trust.

Ten of the 16 homes will be priced below $303,000 and affordable to households with incomes less than 80% of area median income as determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the King County area. Two of these 10 homes are more deeply discounted to be affordable to those whose incomes are at or below 60% area median income, and who are experiencing housing instability.

Six of the homes will sell for market-rate prices to be announced after construction is complete. All the homes will be part of the same homeowners association. Affordable homes at Village Gardens will be sold under the guidelines of the City of Seattle’s Community Preference policy, which gives those who have historic ties to the neighborhood the first opportunity to purchase.

Homestead will be holding a series of information sessions on the homes that are available, what you need to know about buying a community land trust home, how to qualify, how to apply under Community Preference guidelines, and the timeline leading up to the beginning of sales.

Information sessions will be offered:

Tuesday, December 21st | 6 pm

Thursday, January 6th | 6 pm

Wednesday, January 12th | 6 pm

Saturday, January 29th | 2 pm

Wednesday, February 2nd | 6 pm

There is a limit of 30 participants at each session. Buyer selection is NOT a first-come first-served situation, so do not feel you need to rush to attend an information session.
