In our expensive housing market, too many King County residents feel that homeownership is out of reach. But Homestead exists to make the dream of homeownership a possibility for more people who may have been shut out by high costs or the legacy of discrimination or displacement.
Homestead and Africatown Community Land Trust are partnering to provide a Homebuyer Club to people interested in purchasing a home at Village Gardens who may not feel they are ready.
In the Homebuyer Club participants will explore their options for homeownership, and wil set and achieve goals toward owning their home.The Homebuyer Club will help them identify the obstacles they face in becoming a homeowner, and to select strategies to overcome those obstacles.
Participaqnts will have an opportunity to set and achieve goals to prepare them for homeownership in a supportive, peer-based environment. At the end of the course, participants will have tools to create an individualized budget, an understanding of their credit report, will have evaluated banking alternatives, strategized down-payment savings and improved their personal readiness for homeownership.
